21 killed on bus in roadside bombing
A bombing near Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, killed 21 people and wounded 47 on a bus today, the military said.
Brig. Udaya Nananyakkara accused the Tamil Tiger rebels of detonating the roadside bomb that struck the bus in suburban Moratuwa.
There was no immediate comment from the rebels.
The blast came two days after an explosion on a railway track near the capital injured 27 people.
Sri Lanka’s military is pressing an offensive to retake the Tigers’ northern stronghold in land, sea and air attacks in a civil war that has killed more than 70,000 people.
