I read the two letters that appeared after my interview with The Times concerning Mercury auto insurance and my being fortunate to speak with its chairman, George Joseph. (“The word has yet to trickle down,” May 25)

The authors of the letters whined that the story was a waste of time. I disagree.

Mr. Joseph provided a service I never thought possible -- calling me personally to talk about Mercury insurance rates.

If you want something done, always go to the top.
