A toast to the Toastmaster story

Share

As a former Toastmaster, I would guess that most readers know very little about the objectives of Toastmasters or how meetings are conducted (“Talk to the top,” Your Money, June 1).

Even those who have heard the term may think it is a social club where members meet to eat, drink and “toast” each other. Every meeting is a training session. You can’t learn public speaking from a book and even from a few weeks in a college course.

I have never seen a story as extensive and authoritative as this one on Toastmasters in any newspaper before this.
