Re “Deal with the trade-offs,” editorial, Feb. 28

Your editorial relates employment growth to the North American Free Trade Agreement. More likely, employment growth is related to diminished labor unions, temporary labor that is not really temporary and no health benefits, paid vacations or retirement benefits. I urge The Times to be more comprehensive. Maybe if union membership and wages were higher, mothers could return to being homemakers rather than the harried hares of child-nurturing coupled with wage-earning. This is what your editorials should feature rather than Council of Foreign Relations hype.
