Yes, Big Brown was impressive in winning the Preakness, but Bill Dwyre’s canonization of the horse as an almost certain Triple Crown winner goes too far. Remember, the very same accolades were given to Charismatic, Silver Charm, Real Quiet, War Emblem and Smarty Jones in the past decade -- all impressive Kentucky Derby and Preakness winners -- and all of those horses landed in the same place: the Belmont Stakes scrap heap.
