Macy’s Inc. plans to open FAO Schwarz Inc. toy shops in its namesake department stores later this year.
The shops will be run by FAO Schwarz and will sell private-label toys and traditional brands, the two companies said.
They will open as many as 275 locations this fall, aiming for 685 over the next two years. Macys.com will also sell FAO Schwarz merchandise.
Cincinnati-based Macy’s sells merchandise designed for its stores by Martha Stewart and Donald Trump. It will begin selling Tommy Hilfiger men’s and women’s sportswear exclusively later this year.
FAO Schwarz said it would continue to run its flagship store in Manhattan and one in Las Vegas, as well as its website.
