Poverty simulation: A headline on an article in the May 22 California section about a poverty simulation held in downtown Los Angeles and aimed at giving about 60 volunteer participants an appreciation of the difficulties faced by the working poor said, “Salvation Army shows issues faced by poor trying to make a living.” Although the simulation was held at a Salvation Army facility, it was sponsored by Los Angeles Social Venture Partners, Bank of America, the California Community Foundation and the Women’s Foundation of California.
