Fifth shooting victim identified
The fifth and final victim found shot to death at a makeshift encampment near the 405 Freeway was identified Friday by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Hamid Shraifat, 41, was believed to be from Long Beach, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office.
Winter said he had spoken with Shraifat’s family in Jordan.
Officials also have identified the bodies of Frederick Doyle Neumeir, 53; Lorenzo Perez Villacana, 44; Katherine Verdun, 24; and Vanessa Malaelupe, 34.
The five victims were discovered Sunday after police received an anonymous tip.
When officers arrived at the encampment, wedged behind a commercial building near the Santa Fe Avenue offramp, they found the victims.
Authorities continue to ask for the public’s help and seek more information from the anonymous tipster, said Jackie Bezart, a Long Beach police spokeswoman.
