Re “Elephant debate takes over L.A. council meeting,” Nov. 20

Let’s stop work immediately on the Los Angeles Zoo’s elephant enclosure, send Billy to a sanctuary and spend the $42 million on something appropriate and beneficial to our city. In these economic times, the continuation of an elephant exhibit that is antiquated and embarrassing is unconscionable.

Let’s emulate the enlightened view of our friendly rivals to the north who closed the San Francisco Zoo elephant exhibit several years ago.
