A good beginning

Re “Sharing a faith in each other’s goodwill,” Nov. 24

I believe that the twinning campaign is an excellent idea, and I applaud the efforts of every mosque and synagogue that is participating.

It is only through understanding and acceptance that we will be able to combat the hatred and prejudice that leads to “Islamophobia” and anti-Semitism. Focusing on the many similarities between Islam and Judaism is important, but we should also recognize and respect the differences between the two.

Jews and Muslims can be important allies in fighting injustices and discrimination and make our country a more tolerant place for all. This campaign is a step in the right direction.
