The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Federico G. Borjas, 33, of San Diego; sergeant, Army Reserve. Borjas was killed Oct. 16 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Bermel District Center in Afghanistan’s Paktia province, south of Kabul. He was assigned to the 416th Civil Affairs Battalion, 351st Civil Affairs Command in San Diego.

Stacy A. Dryden, 22, of North Canton, Ohio; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Dryden died Oct. 19 of non-combat-related injuries in Iraq’s Anbar province, west of Baghdad. She was assigned to the 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group at Camp Pendleton.

Brian P. Hause, 29, of Stoystown, Pa.; staff sergeant, Air Force. Hause died Thursday of non-combat-related medical causes at Balad Air Base, Iraq, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.

Robert D. Lindenau, 39, of Camano Island, Wash.; captain, Army. Lindenau was killed Monday when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle in Charbagh in Afghanistan’s Laghman province, northeast of Kabul. He was assigned to the 91st Civil Affairs Battalion, 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Heath K. Pickard, 21, of Palestine, Texas; private first class, Army. Pickard died Oct. 16 in Balad, Iraq, of injuries suffered in a mortar attack on his unit in Baqubah, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.

Adrian Robles, 21, of Scottsbluff, Neb.; corporal, Marine Corps. Robles was killed in combat Wednesday in southwestern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Justin A. Saint, 22, of Albertville, Ala.; specialist, Army. Saint died Oct. 15 of non-combat-related injuries in Baghdad. He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 18th Airborne Corps at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

San Sim, 23, of Santa Ana; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Sim was killed in combat Wednesday in southwestern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Deon L. Taylor, 30, of Bronx, N.Y.; specialist, Army National Guard. Taylor was killed Wednesday when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Bela Beluk in western Afghanistan’s Farah province, on the Iranian border. He was assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Syracuse, N.Y.
