Sempra settles CFTC allegations

Sempra Energy agreed to pay a $175,000 penalty to settle allegations by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission involving natural-gas trades on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The commission found that on certain trading days between August and November 2004, Sempra’s floor brokers failed to properly and accurately report trading cards to process trades made after the contract was no longer trading.
