9th annual L.A. Triathlon

Street closures are planned Sunday across a large part of Los Angeles for the triathlon.

Route

The event starts at Venice Beach at 6:45 a.m. with the ocean swim. Competitors will then bike to downtown Los Angeles, where they will run the final stretch, crossing the finish line at Nokia Plaza.

Closures

Streets will begin closing as early as 3:30 a.m., and most will reopen by noon.

Here’s a summary of the closures:

Sector 1: From the intersection of Pacific Avenue and Venice Boulevard to Fairfax Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. Streets will reopen by about 10:45 a.m.

Sector 2: From Fairfax and Wilshire to Alvarado Street and Sunset Boulevard. Streets will reopen by about 11:10 a.m.

Sector 3: From Alexandria Avenue and Sunset to 1st Street and Grand Avenue. Streets will reopen by about 11:35 a.m.

Sector 4: Grand from 1st to 12th streets will reopen by about 1 p.m.

The 101 Freeway offramps at Alvarado and the 110 Freeway offramps at 6th will close by 6 a.m. and reopen about noon and 1 p.m., respectively.
