Three roadside bombs planted in succession struck a police convoy in Jalawla, 80 miles northeast of Baghdad, killing five officers, an official in Diyala province said.

The U.S. military said two American soldiers died of causes unrelated to combat. They were assigned to the Multi-National Division Center, which operates south of the capital.

In Baghdad, the leader of a Sunni group allied with the U.S. died Saturday night when his booby-trapped car exploded, officials said.
