* Tampa Bay 11, at Baltimore 6: The American League East-leading Rays rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the first inning and reduced their magic number to one to clinch their first division title. Akinori Iwamura had two hits and three runs batted in for the Rays, who finished a four-game sweep. The Orioles have lost nine games in a row.

* at Boston 5, Cleveland 4: The Red Sox jumped on Fausto Carmona for four runs in the first inning and Mark Kotsay’s double broke an eighth-inning tie. The Indians rallied to tie the score, 4-4, in the fifth inning against starter Paul Byrd.

* at Texas 14, Oakland 4: Hank Blalock hit a home run for the fourth game in a row and Matt Harrison (9-3) became the first Rangers rookie left-hander to win nine games. Travis Metcalf homered and Michael Young was four for four with a walk for the Rangers.

* Kansas City 10, at Detroit 4: Mitch Maier hit a bases-loaded triple in a seven-run fifth inning and the Royals swept the three-game series.

* New York 6, at Toronto 2 (10 innings): Bobby Abreu hit a grand slam in the 10th inning and the Yankees, eliminated from the postseason race, won their seventh game in a row. It was Abreu’s 20th home run.

* at Minnesota 3, Chicago 2: The Twins pulled to within half a game of the first-place White Sox in the AL Central. Chicago’s Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 611th home run.

* Angels 6, at Seattle 5: Mark Teixeira’s home run with two outs in the eighth inning completed the Angels’ rally from a 5-2 deficit after five innings.
