Improving on ‘Blart’; Dirty ‘30s

Please talk about: “Observe and Report”

You’ve seen the posters: Seth Rogen stars as an inept mall security guard in a film by Jody Hill, who’s kept us all stocked with Danny McBride treats like “Foot Fist Way” and “Eastbound & Down” (renew it, HBO). So in the event you jumped the gun and watched “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” here’s your chance to right that wrong. (Friday)

Of all the cop shows on TV, the only one I want to talk about is: “Southland”

TV writers are already hyping the new series from John Wells about a rookie cop, his no-nonsense training officer and the L.A. police unit to which they belong. Wells practically ensures that it will be meatier than your average case-of-the-week procedural. (Thursday)

CBS would like you young people to talk about: “Harper’s Island”

It’s 13 hours of “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” At least one gruesome murder a week! Plenty of skin! Only catch? The killer better not be that creepy little girl who burns snails in the first episode. Seriously. (Thursday)

Get around to talking about: “Rockville, CA”

In this Web series, Josh Schwartz surrounds one of his Seth Cohen-types -- here, he’s named Hunter -- with his favorite bands at a fictional Echo Park nightclub. Of course, we’re addicted already. The Little Ones drop by this week, but because this is the Internet, you can go back and re-watch performances by past acts such as the Kooks, Kaiser Chiefs and Travis any time you want. (Tuesday)

Stay in to talk about: “Pre-Code Hollywood Collection”

Naughty films from the early 1930s? Yes, please! Universal’s packaged six of these pre-code classics in a box set that includes “Search for Beauty,” starring Buster Crabbe and Ida Lupino as Olympians tricked into endorsing a “fitness” mag with racy pictures, and “Hot Saturday,” about the scandal that erupts after a young woman spends the night with a notorious playboy, played by Cary Grant, without telling her fiance.
