A spokesman for Jay Leno said the “Tonight Show” host was doing well after an overnight hospital stay in Burbank and was released Friday.

Leno, 58, checked himself into Providence St. Joseph Medical Center for “precautionary reasons” Thursday after he reported to work and did not feel well, according to sources close to the comedian. Although his illness was not officially released, the sources said Leno told friends he was suffering from food poisoning.

NBC canceled Leno’s Thursday and Friday shows, with reruns taking their place. It was the first time Leno, who took over “Tonight” in 1992, missed a show because of illness. He was expected to be back at work Monday.
