Previews by August Brown Million Dollar Revival Jackson Browne, Olivia Newton-John, Whispertown 2000 and the Bird & the Bee are some of the eclectic artists from L.A.’s top shelf of pop on offer at this round-robin of music and comedy at the revitalized downtown theater. Million Dollar Theatre, 307 S. Broadway, L.A. Today, 6 p.m. $30-$100. (213) 473-0720.

Aimee Mann’s Christmas Variety Show The singer-songwriter’s annual tongue-in-cheek music-and-comedy fest is as warm-hearted and goofy as a reindeer sweater. This year it sports Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel as guests, but surely many other L.A. art-pop luminaries will be in tow. Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., L.A. Today-Tue., 9 p.m. $40. (310) 855-0350.

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros This recovering hippie’s sprawling canyon-folk collective seems to be winning fans out of sheer spectacle -- the cast of bedraggled harmonists practically dares you to not be impressed by their numbers. Fortunately, corralling that many musicians means simple songs, and more often than not Sharpe’s are hugely winning. Mayan Theatre, 1038 S. Hill St., L.A. Mon., 8 p.m. $18. (213) 746-4674.

Against Me! The Gainesville band had a breakthrough with “New Wave,” one of the catchiest yet most acerbic popular punk albums of recent memory. Singer Tom Gabel has been going through a bit of a folkier phase lately -- between a solo EP and stints on the roundtable “Revival Tour” -- so it’ll be intriguing to see what snarling direction he goes in with his new songs off the forthcoming “White Crosses.” Spaceland, 1717 Silver Lake Blvd., Silver Lake. Thu., 8:30 p.m. $12. (323) 661-4380.
