I listen to lots of Americana/country music but have always enjoyed classic country the most. Randy Lewis’ close-up interview of Merle Haggard (“Haggard Country,” Feb. 1) revealed a down-to-earth family guy who just happens to be an incredible musician. Merle’s honest comments about his bout with cancer will certainly give others hope.

Thanks for giving this boost to country music.
