NATIONAL BRIEFING / AND FINALLY . . .
A retired bank teller who became known as the “Granny Robber” for a series of bank robberies in southwest Ohio has been sentenced to six years in prison on top of an earlier three-year sentence.
Barbara Joly of Middletown was sentenced in Warren County Common Pleas Court for robbing three banks in that county.
The 68-year-old was sentenced earlier this month in neighboring Butler County after pleading guilty to one bank robbery there.
Joly’s lawyer has said the robberies were an attempt to support a grown son who had fallen on hard times.
