The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has revoked Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich’s access to classified federal security information, officials said Friday.

Amy Kudwa, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, confirmed the revocation but declined to comment further.

The move withdraws the Democratic governor’s access to classified information, although Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero said other individuals within state and local government have access.

“It doesn’t change day- to-day operations very much at all,” said Patti Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Illi- nois Emergency Management Agency.

She added that Blagojevich did not normally receive briefings on matters related to domestic security.
