Coroner’s office records: An article in Thursday’s Section A on Los Angeles County coroner’s employees improperly viewing Michael Jackson’s death certificate said that death records in the Electronic Death Registration System can be accessed by anyone with a state-issued password. The article should have made clear that users have limited access. Funeral homes, for example, are able to access death certificates for people whose funerals they handle, and coroner’s staff can only access death certificates created in their county.
