Vivendi’s Universal Music Group and other record labels accused a Minnesota woman of improperly trading music over the Internet in a retrial of the only such case to go before a U.S. jury.

This is the second trial in the case against Jammie Thomas-Rasset. The first trial in October 2007 resulted in a $222,000 verdict in favor of the record companies. U.S. District Judge Michael J. Davis threw out the verdict, saying he had given the jury incorrect instructions.
