NATIONAL BRIEFING / TEXAS
A wildfire that has destroyed at least 25 homes and three businesses about 30 miles southeast of Austin was said to be about 70% contained.
Texas Forest Service spokesman Lewis Kearney said no additional structures were threatened. Evacuated residents were being escorted back to their property.
Officials say two National Guard helicopters joined other aircraft in dropping water on the blaze near the towns of Bastrop and Smithville.
The wildfire has charred just over a square mile since it was started Saturday by a fallen power line.
