Orange County officials Thursday announced that the county has been awarded more than $13.7 million in federal funds to combat homelessness.
The money, which is a $1.9-million increase from 2007 and the most the county has ever received, was given out by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and will go toward funding 38 projects, including transitional shelters and services for families, battered women, recovering substance abusers and seniors.
