I don’t think I can adequately convey how disgusted I was at Mary McNamara’s review of Showtime’s “Dexter” -- that “darkly hilarious” series in which psychopaths slit the throats of terrified women, slaughter lovers and generally provide viewers with grisly and gore-filled episodes [“An Inevitable Surrender to ‘Dexter’s’ Charms,” Oct. 30].

Is she totally out of contact with all real life? People all over the world are being slaughtered, wars are blowing off people’s arms and legs, people are dying by the thousands due to actions by psychopathic leaders of countries and violence in families and communities.

Despite this, McNamara apparently thinks that the depiction of death, terror and gore is artful and entertaining.
