WEB BUZZ : Tool keeps track of frequent-flier miles

Share

Has keeping track of your frequent-flier miles become more a pain than a perk? AwardWallet keeps track of your miles for you.

What’s hot: It’s free, as opposed to TripIt’s Point Tracker (available in TripIt Pro for $69 a year). AwardWallet keeps track of your frequent-flier miles and other loyalty award program balances in an easy-to-read space. Just add a mileage program with your frequent-flier number and program password to get started. The whole family can track mileage by adding “connections” -- a great feature. And don’t worry about telling AwardWallet when your miles will expire. It does that for you and e-mails you a reminder before those miles go to waste. You can register up to three programs for free and an unlimited number in its pay-what-you-want version. If you are considering a new awards program, see the “ratings” page, a forum for users who want to talk about their award program experiences.

What’s not: You also can add travel plans and keep them under the same roof, but this is a tough department to compete in when travel sites such as NileGuide, TravelMuse and Tripwolf have prettier versions of “plan, print and share” travel itineraries.
