Sempra Energy said third-quarter net income climbed 2.9% on gains from a commodities-trading joint venture with Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
Earnings rose to $317 million, or $1.27 a share, from $308 million, or $1.24, a year earlier, San Diego-based Sempra said. Revenue fell 31%.
On Monday, Sempra shares rose $1.19, or 2.3%, to $51.94.
