The Happy Hollows One of Silver Lake’s perennial almost-made-it indie rock acts has settled in for a November residency at Spaceland to showcase the spiraling post-punk guitar work and breakneck rhythms on their new full-length, “Spells,” all led by the feral charisma of frontwoman Sarah Negahdari. KISS Reprising the spirit and best moments of their landmark “Alive” live album, the painted demons may not look as menacing as they once did, but there are few more qualified to put on an arena-exploding, beer-hoisting night of revelry like them. Simian Mobile Disco The U.K. electro-house duo’s new album, “Temporary Pleasures,” was apt -- it’s built largely on guest vocals that sometimes stick nicely to their shimmering, beat-heavy productions, but sometimes don’t. Fortunately, their live sets are dizzying, virtuosic master classes in how to make live techno look interesting -- they skulk around a giant pillar of gewgaws to make an impossible amount of noise.
