Clothes Off Our Back shares the wealth

Share

Sharing the wealth The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation was established by actors Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford to benefit a variety of children’s charities, such as Feeding America, Malaria No More and the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA. The foundation’s auctions showcase today’s hottest celebrity goodies, putting clothes, accessories and memorabilia from red carpet events, photo shoots, stage performances, television and films up for bid to the public. More than 600 celebs have participated since the 2002 inception of Clothes Off Our Back, helping to raise nearly $4 million. “When we auction an item, the consumer knows it’s going to charity and that a celebrity or designer has donated it; it’s different than taking something that wasn’t meant to be sold,” says Executive Director Michel Schneider. “It really is the warm and fuzzy part of a celebrity-obsessed culture.” For more information about Clothes Off Our Back, visit www.clothesoffourback.org -- Julie Neigher
