As tempting as it might be, you can’t actually buy anything at the Herman Miller showroom, which has just opened in a former warehouse in Los Angeles, near Culver City. The facility exists to offer a comprehensive look at the company’s storied furniture as well as a peek at future designs, says Lori Gee, Herman Miller’s director of workplace solutions. Much of the new showroom is devoted to innovative office furnishings, many of which adapt easily for use in the home. It’s also the place to see tricked-out versions of midcentury classics, such as the Eames 670 rocker in white leather and George Nelson’s Marshmallow sofa in cowhide, as well as furniture from the company’s European division and subsidiary Geiger. If you see something you like, a showroom representative can point you to a local retailer who can take the order. 3641 Holdrege Ave.; (310) 736-3650; www.hermanmiller.com.
