WORLD BRIEFING
A Kenyan police official said an unknown number of people are trapped in the rubble of a collapsed three-story building in Nairobi.
The collapse comes barely a week after the Kenya Architectural Assn. issued a report saying 65% of structures in the country did not meet required standards.
Police said 13 people have been rescued, and three were in critical condition. Several others were believed to still be trapped.
Such collapses are common in Africa. Corruption and substandard materials are often to blame.
