Re “Park quickly, or park free?” Oct. 15

I must say, I was hoping I’d see more mentioned about improving incentives for biking in Santa Monica instead of relying on cars and where to park the cars.

The cost of parking is really high, as outlined in your article. It seems as if it would be so much cheaper, and healthier, to encourage biking: providing safe bike storage, bike valet or even just a place to lock up bikes, plus bike lanes, signs, safe routes -- which I think may be the main reason more people don’t ride their bikes.

I hope Santa Monica includes bikes in its parking plan -- even if it’s just by making one of those spaces for bikes instead of cars.
