I have been to the Monterey Aquarium many times and enjoyed Christopher Reynolds’ article [“The Sea Inside,” Oct. 18]. My only comments are that he neglected to mention the aquarium’s world-class endangered otter program. The work those people do is worthy of an article by itself.

I would also fault his “Where to Eat” sidebar. There is a famous restaurant within walking distance (Sardine Factory), as well as a great many establishments in Monterey. I can understand why he did not mention restaurants in Carmel or Carmel Valley but do not know why he fixated on Pacific Grove.

Last winter I spent three days in Monterey and spent quality time at the aquarium every day. It was less expensive to become a member than to pay separately for all three visits, and it made a tangible statement about the aquarium’s importance.

Monterey Bay Whale Watch, www.montereybaywhalewatch.com, offers terrific whale-watching trips. And I ate dinner at the Fish Hopper restaurant, overlooking the ocean, where jellyfish put on a fascinating show. Altogether, a delightful marine-themed vacation.
