Times Wire Reports

Former Bosnian Serb President Biljana Plavsic, sentenced in 2003 by a United Nations war crimes tribunal to 11 years in prison, returned to her home in Belgrade after early release from a Swedish jail.

Plavsic flew in from Stockholm on a Bosnian Serb government plane and was whisked away in a car that drove her straight from the tarmac to her downtown apartment.

Plavsic, 79, is the only woman among the 161 people indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. She was freed after serving two-thirds of her sentence. The war crimes tribunal in The Hague last month authorized her early release.
