The current Broadway season is shaping up to be a celebrity-packed affair.

Following news this week that Scarlett Johansson, Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes soon will appear on New York stages, Wednesday brought word that 13-year-old actress Abigail Breslin will make her Broadway debut in a revival of William Gibson’s “The Miracle Worker.”

Breslin, who earned an Oscar nomination in 2007 for “Little Miss Sunshine,” will play the young Helen Keller in the revival production, which is set to open March 3 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. She will costar alongside Tony Award nominee Alison Pill (“The Lieutenant of Inishmore”) in the role of Annie Sullivan.

“The Miracle Worker” won the Tony Award for best play in 1960 and was subsequently made into a film with Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft.

This revival, which will be directed by Kate Whoriskey, marks the 50th anniversary of the play’s Broadway debut. Playwright Gibson died in 2008 at age 94.
