Dodgers: Week Ahead

Tuesday through Thursday: at Philadelphia Phillies

Friday through Sunday: at Atlanta Braves

The last time the Dodgers visited Philadelphia they were swept out of the National League Championship Series for the second consecutive year. That’s not likely to happen this season because the fourth-place Dodgers aren’t likely to reach the postseason. But their final cross-country trip of the summer will give them a taste of pennant-race baseball since the Phillies and Braves are both battling for the NL East lead. The Dodgers will miss Roy Halladay in Philadelphia, but they won’t be so lucky in Atlanta, where they are scheduled to face 12-game winner Tim Hudson in the series opener. That series will also mark the final meeting between two of the five winningest managers of all-time in the Braves’ Bobby Cox, who is retiring at the end of the season, and the Dodgers’ Joe Torre.
