POP MUSIC

Jimmy Webb His compositions — including the ultimate breakup song, “By the Time I Get to Phoenix” — have been recorded by Glen Campbell, the Supremes, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and R.E.M., to name a few. Webb’s new album, “Just Across the River,” features collaborations with Linda Ronstadt, Mark Knopfler, Billy Joel and Willie Nelson. Largo at the Coronet, 355 N. La Cienega Blvd. 8 p.m. $30. (310) 855-0350.

Los Lobos Three dozen years and more than a dozen albums into its career, the band could be forgiven for pursuing the most relaxed, comfortable way to make a new record. But from the early exuberance of its 1983 EP, “… And a Time to Dance,” to the musical and sonic sophistication of 2006’s “The Town and the City,” Los Lobos has long strived to push itself, and its music, to new places, and that’s no exception for “Tin Can Trust.” Amoeba Music, 6400 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood. 7 p.m. Free. www.amoeba.com.
