The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq, or who died at a U.S. military hospital of their injuries:

Marc A. Arizmendez, 30, of Anaheim; staff sergeant, Army. Arizmendez was among three soldiers killed Tuesday when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Qalat, Afghanistan, southwest of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels, Germany.

Christopher F. Cabacoy, 30, of Virginia Beach, Va.; staff sergeant, Army. Cabacoy was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Kandahar, Afghanistan, south of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Keenan A. Cooper, 19, of Wahpeton, N.D.; specialist, Army. Cooper was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Yakuta, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Andrew J. Creighton, 23, of Laurel, Del.; sergeant, Army. Creighton died July 4 of injuries suffered July 1 while conducting combat operations in southern Afghanistan’s Oruzgan province, southwest of Kabul. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Jacob A. Dennis, 22, of Powder Springs, Ga.; private first class, Army. Dennis died July 3 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered June 30 in a weapons system accident at Forward Operating Base Lane in southern Afghanistan’s Zabol province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Louis R. Fastuca, 24, of West Chester, Pa.; sergeant, Army. Fastuca was killed Monday when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Abdulhamid Kalay in central Afghanistan’s Kabul province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team at Camp Ederle, Italy.

David Jefferson, 23, of Philadelphia; private first class, Army. Jefferson was killed July 2 when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on foot patrol in Kandahar, Afghanistan, south of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Roger Lee, 26, of Monterey, Calif.; specialist, Army. Lee was among three soldiers killed Tuesday when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Qalat, Afghanistan, southwest of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels, Germany.

Clayton D. McGarrah, 20, of Harrison, Ark.; specialist, Army. McGarrah was killed July 4 when his unit was attacked with an improvised explosive device and rocket-propelled grenades in Arghandab in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Jerod H. Osborne, 20, of Royse City, Texas; specialist, Army. Osborne was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Yakuta, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 73rd Armor Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Michael S. Pridham, 19, of Louisville, Ky.; private first class, Army. Pridham was among three soldiers killed Tuesday when their vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Qalat, Afghanistan, southwest of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment in Hohenfels, Germany.

Jordan E. Tuttle, 22, of West Monroe, La.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Tuttle died of noncombat-related injuries July 2 in Baghdad. He was a member of the 156th Army Band in Bossier City, La., and assigned to the 1st Battalion, 141st Field Artillery Regiment, 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in New Orleans.

David A. Wisniewski, 31, of Moville, Iowa; captain, Air Force. Wisniewski died July 2 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., of injuries suffered June 9 when his Black Hawk helicopter was shot down near Forward Operating Base Jackson in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 66th Rescue Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

Edwin C. Wood, 18, of Omaha; private first class, Army. Wood was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Kandahar, Afghanistan, south of Kabul. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.
