Taking its name from a lens-like cloud formation that appears uncannily symmetrical, smooth and luminous on the horizon, the Los Angeles- and Sendai, Japan-based architectural firm Atelier Hitoshi Abe presents “len-tic-u-lar-is,” an exhibition of a 1:7 scale model for a proposed roof structure that will be built in the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center’s plaza. In conjunction with the opening reception, Hitoshi Abe (chairman of the UCLA department of architecture and urban design) will discuss the exhibition with SCI-Arc Director Eric Owen Moss. SCI-Arc Gallery, 960 E. 3rd St., L.A. 7 p.m. Fri. Free. Through Sept. 12. (213) 613-2200. https://www.sciarc.edu.
