Hello, fathead

Share

The Psychrolutes marcidus -- also known as “fathead” or, as the scientists who found the fish off northwest New Zealand like to call him, “Mr. Blobby” -- can be found in marine waters of the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans at depths between 328 feet and a mile. Some might think that Mr. Blobby looks a bit too much like their curmudgeonly Grandpa Jack, but we think his bulbous body and grumpy little frown make him quite cuddly. (Well, as cuddly as a slimy sea creature can be.)
