Front man Scott Weiland and his alt-rock demigod counterparts are back with their self-titled sixth album — their first since 2001’s “Shangri-La Dee Da.” The 12-track LP was produced by guitar and bassist brothers, Robert and Dean DeLeo, and is said to be classic STP with the band’s signature blend of mind-bending melodies and Weiland’s smoky crooning. He gave us 2001’s “Amelie.” And 1997’s “Alien: Resurrection” — though, some of us like to pretend that never happened. Now French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet is back with “Micmacs” about an unlucky shlub who, with the help of a few recruitments, defeats the weapons manufacturer that caused his father’s death. The film opens in limited release. (Friday)
