Update: The Sparks are winless as they prepare for their home opener, even though Candace Parker collected her third double-double of the season last Saturday. A new system under new coach Jennifer Gillom has caused the team to struggle a bit. But veteran guards Ticha Penicheiro (Achilles’) and Marie Ferdinand-Harris (knee) are both healthy again. Mystics forward Monique Currie is averaging 18 points a game but All-Star guard Alana Beard is out for the season after ankle surgery last month.
