Riverside police announced Tuesday the arrest of a suspect who allegedly abducted a 9-year-old girl from her family’s second-story apartment and then dropped her off hours later miles from her home.

Details of the arrest will be made public at a Tuesday afternoon news conference, said Lt. Guy Toussaint of the Riverside Police Department.

The girl, who was hospitalized with injuries related to the May 7 abduction, was knocking on doors asking for help around 1 a.m. after she was “dumped” by the assailant in a neighborhood west of the Galleria at Tyler mall in Riverside.

The girl and her two siblings were asleep when the suspect crawled through an unlocked window and abducted the girl, police said. The mother was not home at the time, and the oldest sibling was watching the children, police said.
