Furby is back: What’s new in holiday toys [video chat]

Share

Yes, Furby, that furry Hasbro toy from the 1990s, is making a comeback. And he’s gone high tech.

Laurie Schacht, co-publisher of the gift guide the Toy Insider, shows him off in this video chat with Times retail reporter Shan Li and consumer columnist David Lazarus.

Furby can now be fed with the help of tablet computers and smartphones equipped with a special app.

Technology has crept into even classic toys such as a Barbie with a built-in video camera and battery-operated cars and helicopters that are controlled by smartphone apps instead of separate remotes, Li writes in a story today in Business.

Schacht shows some high-tech and low-tech toys in this video.
