Perhaps the second time will be the charm for actress Ali Larter and her husband, actor-comedian Hayes MacArthur. The celebrity couple have put their modern home in Hollywood Hills West back on the market at $4.295 million, down from last year’s asking price of $4.85 million.

Set among a backdrop of mature trees and canyon views, the three-story home of 5,500 square feet was designed by architect Brian Murphy and completed in 2007.

Open-plan interiors are light and bright with walls of windows, wide-plank wood floors and a central staircase framed in steel and glass. Common areas include a formal living room with a fireplace that opens to a center-island kitchen. A lower level with a separate entrance holds a media room and an office/gym area.

Four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms include a master suite with a custom walk-in closet and balcony that overlooks the grounds. A two-sided wall fireplace is shared by the master bedroom and bathroom.

Outdoors, the setting is serene and sun-touched. A large expanse of grass surrounds a swimming pool and spa at the edge of the half-acre property. A sun deck accessed by a spiral staircase tops the home.

The house last changed hands in 2009 for $2.925 million, records show. Steve Frankel of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has the listing.

The 40-year-old Larter is known for her role as Claire Redfield in the “Resident Evil” film franchise, a role she will reprise in the upcoming film “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.” Among her television credits is the supernatural series “Heroes” and the crime drama “Legends.”

MarcArthur, 38, currently appears in the TBS police satire “Angie Tribeca.” His film credits include “She’s Out of My League” (2010) and “Life as We Know It” (2010).
