Singer-songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter is ready for an island release

Singer-songwriter and guitarist Donavon Frankenreiter has put his peaceful estate in Kilauea, a town on the northeastern shore of Kauai, Hawaii, on the market for $6.6 million.

Set on a knoll overlooking a private reservoir, the 6.5-acre spread features a Balinese-inspired main house, a one-bedroom guest house and an infinity-edge swimming pool. Lush tropical flora, fruit trees and cascading ponds with waterfalls surround the home to create a natural barrier.

Drawing from new and old styles, the open floor plan keeps things cool and casual with subdued tones, thick-beamed ceilings and 100-year-old reclaimed teak floors. A contemporary kitchen has gray-hued cabinets and a center island, and the dining room flows casually into the living room.

Basalt stone and crystal inlays lend a raw note to the master bathroom, which has a custom soaking tub. The main house has three bedrooms and three bathrooms in all.

Walls of glass doors open to an Ipe deck that connects various outdoor living areas and covered patios. Native specimens, a raised garden beds, a lily pond and an outdoor shower fill out the grounds.

Neal Norman and Billy Eckert of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers hold the listing.

Frankenreiter, a Southern California native, was a protege of fellow surf rock musician Jack Johnson prior to embarking on a solo career. Among his albums are “Move by Yourself” (2006), “Glow” (2010) and, most recently, “The Heart” (2015).
