Paul Williams-designed estate in La Cañada Flintridge has a link to city’s founding father
A 1920s mansion built for Katherine B. Flint, widow of former Sen. Frank P. Flint, is for sale for about $4.4 million in the city that her husband helped put on the map.
The American Colonial Georgian Revival-style home sits on half an acre in La Cañada Flintridge, which is partially named after Flint for his work as a developer in the area.
Designed by architect Paul Williams, the 1929-built house has 5,400 square feet of living space and a wealth of grand details including crown molding, columns and wood finishes.
Among the living spaces are a chandelier-topped formal dining room and a mahogany wood-paneled office entered through glass doors. A marble fireplace anchors the living room. The updated kitchen houses a breakfast nook, and the floor plan is completed by four bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and a custom wine cellar.
Outside, brick patios and terraces overlook the grassy lot. Stairs lead down to a pool and spa.
The exact price of the home is $4.398 million. Records show it last traded hands in 2007 for $3.4 million.
