Queen Latifah sells Hollywood Hills house she co-owned with personal trainer
Dana Owens, better known as Queen Latifah, has sold a gated house she co-owned in Hollywood Hills West at $1.65 million.
The quaint traditional-style home, built in 1922, was remodeled to incorporate contemporary interiors, an open floor plan and French doors.
The 2,026 square feet of living space contain a library, a family room, an updated kitchen, a bonus room, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Details include high ceilings, a glass-tile fireplace and dark hardwood floors.
Mature trees and tropical plants add privacy to the backyard, which features a deck, a patio and an outdoor spa.
The multi-talented Owens, 45, made her mark in hip-hop in the late 1980s releasing the album “All Hail the Queen.” Her solo rap performance of “U.N.I.T.Y.” won a Grammy in 1994.
The singer-songwriter, actress, comedian and TV and record producer starred on “Living Single” in the 1990s and had her own talk show. “The Queen Latifah Show” started in 2013. This year she played blues performer Bessie Smith in an HBO biopic, “Bessie.”
She bought the property with personal trainer Jeanette Jenkins in 2009 for $1.34 million, public records show. She listed the house in the fall at $1.939 million.
Jenkins’ clients have included such celebrities as former pro football player Terrell Owens, singer Pink and actress Tia Mowry.
Norma Streams of Rodeo Realty was the listing agent. Melissa Zee, also with Rodeo Realty, represented the buyer.
