Hot Property: Jeff Bridges angles for another sale in Montecito
Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges is reprising his role as seller in Montecito, where his Spanish Revival-style compound of five years is on the market for $7.995 million.
He and his wife, Susan Geston, sold another Montecito property — a 19.5-acre vineyard estate — in 2017 for $15.925 million.
Set on four acres, the Spanish Revival-style main home is accompanied by a guesthouse, a pool house, a carriage house and a horse facility with five stalls and a tack room. The verdant grounds consist of gardens, redwoods, oak groves and orchards, as well as a private well.
Designed and built a century ago by James Osborne Craig, the main residence boasts heavy doses of lumber throughout its interior. Beamed ceilings and hardwood floors fill the living spaces, and all the windows and doors are lined with wood.
There’s an expansive living room, a window-filled family room, a dining area, sky-lighted chef’s kitchen, three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master suite holds one of five fireplaces, as well as bay windows and a bathroom with teak floors and hydronic heating.
A tile courtyard with a fountain extends the living space outside. A swimming pool and spa, a pool house and a carriage house fill out the grounds.
Bridges, 67, won an Academy Award in 2010 for the film “Crazy Heart.” His scores of movie credits also include “Hell or High Water,” “True Grit” and “The Big Lebowski,” and last year, he starred in “Bad Times at the El Royale.”

An offer that suits her
Sarah Rafferty, known for her role as Donna Paulsen on the legal drama “Suits,” has cut a deal in West Hollywood, selling her home of more than a decade for $2.46 million, or $110,000 more than the asking price.
Obscured from the street by hedges and gates, the 1950s Spanish-style bungalow has been reimagined as a California contemporary. Blond hardwood floors and white-painted walls soften the interiors, while skylights and picture windows bring in natural light. The chef’s kitchen can handle a crowd with a wide island/bar and bi-folding doors that open to a deck.
The single-story floor plan also includes a garden-view dining room, a living room with a fireplace, a family room, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A detached studio has an additional living area and bathroom.
Outside, a tiled waterfall feature creates a backdrop for a swimmer’s pool and spa. A conversation area, fire features, tall palms and landscaping fill out the grounds.
Rafferty, 46, bought the home in 2006 for $1.787 million. The actress has credits that include “Law & Order,” “Bones,” “CSI: Miami” and “Brothers & Sisters.”

Touching down in Studio City
Mychal Kendricks, the Seattle Seahawks linebacker who last year pleaded guilty to insider trading, is keeping busy while awaiting sentencing. The NFL veteran has purchased a contemporary home in Studio City for $2.77 million.
Perched high in the hills, the corner-lot property recently underwent a dramatic remodel, switching from a salmon-colored ranch to a sleek contemporary with sweeping views and an open floor plan. Light hardwood floors mix with white walls and black finishes throughout the 4,307-square-foot interior.
A floor-to-ceiling fireplace anchors the main level, which holds a living room, family room, dining area and gourmet kitchen. Pocketing doors connect the space to a covered balcony with city and mountain views.
Five bedrooms and 4.25 bathrooms finish off the floor plan, including two master suites and a bedroom that spans the entire lower level.
Outside, the sloping grounds hold a swimming pool and spa, a lawn and a dining patio with a grill.

Kendricks, 28, pleaded guilty to insider trading, admitting to using nonpublic information on corporate transactions to make roughly $1.2 million.
A former Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, the linebacker was drafted in 2012 by the Philadelphia Eagles and won a Super Bowl with the team in 2018. Last year, he appeared in four games for the Seahawks.
More housecleaning for Lakers’ boss
Despite the ongoing Lakers management drama, team president Jeanie Buss has found time to wrap up a home sale in Playa Vista. Her Mediterranean-style estate sold for $2.575 million, or $225,000 less than the asking price.
It was a pretty short stay for Buss, who bought the home in late 2017 for about $2.45 million.
The house is markedly different from when she bought it. Dark tones of brown and purple have been swapped for a more neutral color palette, and modern fixtures now hang over the living spaces.
A media room and office lined with arched French doors fill out the lowest of three levels. On the second story, there are a living room with a stacked-stone fireplace and an open-concept kitchen with a wet bar and wine cooler. Four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms are spread across 3,178 square feet of interior.
A covered flagstone deck with heaters extends from the second floor and takes in views of the neighborhood. A three-car garage finishes off the property, which sits about a mile from the ocean.

Buss, 57, is the daughter of late businessman and Lakers owner Jerry Buss. After taking control of the team in 2017, she named basketball great Magic Johnson as president of basketball operations and Rob Pelinka as general manager.
Johnson abruptly quit in April, later citing betrayal and backstabbing by Pelinka.
New price for Western White House
In San Clemente, the oceanfront estate that became known as the Western White House during Richard M. Nixon’s presidency has returned to market at $57.5 million, a roughly 23% discount from its original $75-million asking price.
Called La Casa Pacifica by Nixon during his ownership, the 5.45-acre estate was acquired for the president’s use in 1969 and became the setting for numerous gatherings with political and entertainment elite.
World leaders to have visited Nixon at the estate included Japanese Premier Eisaku Sato, South Vietnamese President Nguyen Van Thieu and former Soviet leader Leonid I. Brezhnev. Former President Lyndon B. Johnson spent his 61st birthday at the property.
Current owner Gavin S. Herbert, the former chief executive of Allergan Pharmaceuticals, bought the property from Nixon in the 1980s and remodeled and expanded the estate.
At its heart is a California Colonial Revival-style home of about 9,000 square feet. Built in 1926 and full of character, the restored residence features arched doorways, tile and hardwood flooring and detailed groin-vaulted ceilings.
Among features are an ocean-view office used by Nixon, an entertainer’s pavilion and a master suite with an expanded bathroom and closet area. A central courtyard with a tiled fountain, accessed by most rooms, lies at the center of the home.
Accompanying the main house is a two-bedroom guesthouse, multiple staff residences, additional offices, a greenhouse, a lighted tennis court and formal gardens. The swimming pool, which Nixon added to replace an existing tennis court, has an ocean view.
The property, tucked behind three sets of private gates, combines to offer about 15,000 square feet of living space, nine bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, a three-quarter bathroom and four powder rooms.
Views of Santa Catalina Island, the open water and the coastline create a backdrop for vibrant seaside gardens, exotic palms and Monterey cypress. Some 450 feet of beach frontage complete the coastal setting.
